No more Toy Box Game Discs for 2.0

Postby cyacene » Fri Sep 26, 2014 12:45 am

So I've been really enjoying the Toy Box Game Discs so far, and was getting really excited by the possibilities that they could bring to 2.0 in the future. JV set the record straight, and we're not getting any more than the 2 we have now, and the 2 that will come for the disney side.

Heres the Twitter conversation:

I've been enjoying them, too. Sadly, it's really just two games instead of 4 since they kinda copy each other (one Marvel style and one Disney style). Maybe some of the awesome community creators can come up with some killer games to give them a run for their money.

They are one of the best parts of 2.0 so I imagine we'll see more in 3.0.

I started a thread a little while back for suggestions. http://www.disneyinfinityfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9674#sthash.x1Sd8fTN.dpbs

This is really sad, buyers got shafted on content this time.

Honestly, I like the concept of the Toy Box Game disks over that of the Playsets, especially since we can go back to completed ones with any characters. We were told a while back that there would only be the 4 disks this time around, but after playing them, I would have liked to have seen more, especially to make up for the characters without playset. Still, we are supposed to be able to recreate them in the Toy Box, and with the additional structured gameplay elements and the more frequently updated Toy Box Share, I think things should work out for the better.

With that said, I do hope Avalanche gets enough positive feedback of the Toy Box games to not only continue them but make even more for 3.0.

I'm sure they'll be in blind packs, too. :)

In all seriousness, I've heard that the Toy Box edition ones are going to be available separately in 2015. I'd hope they do the same for the Marvel ones so no matter what set you buy (or if you buy the digital version), you've got the opportunity to pick those up. Hoping it's NOT a blind pack thing, because it would kinda suck to have two Esacpe from the Kylns and that's it. I'm betting they'll make a marketing decision based on how those sell.

They said all 4 would be available to buy separate from the starter packs. All it was said that they would be sold together in packs of 2, so both Marvel together and both Disney together.

Boo. That's too bad. Well, at least for 2.0, anyway.

I would love for them to really expand the idea: Platformers, racing games, Super Smash Bros style brawlers. I like them better than the playsets in some regards.

They probably didn't want to overdo it the first time in case they didn't go over well. At least many of the other game styles are doable by the community in the Toy Box with the templates.
