JV confirms on twitter: No Crystal Variants for 2.0

I'd rather have costume variants for the Marvel characters anyway, like Red Hulk or Stealth Captain America.

This is good, crystals took up a few slots that could've been different characters for 1.0.

The crystals never bothered me anyway! I'm glad I didn't but them, especially now that they're not in 2.0. They look kind of weird and I just don't think they'd look nice on my shelf, plus I don't know where I'd put them! Now there's more room for more regular characters...

Aww… I could imagine a crystal variant for the starter pack characters, and then a crystal variant for the main characters of the other playsets. This would make:
Crystal Iron Man
Crystal Black Widow
Crystal Thor
Crystal Spider-Man
Crystal Star Lord

Crystal Variants were just a grab for money.

Agree with quite a few in this thread, I'm glad there will not be any this time around. Saves me money and time I'll have to spend buying, scanning and returning those darned blind packs they still kept, lol.

I'm glad they don't return, I have all the figures of the first game except for the crystal variants. I don't like how they look, I prefer the characters in their original colors like they are supposed to be. So this is good news for me!
