@Romulus77 "Characters that primarily use guns and knives and space settings that don't lend themselves to a single playset."

Have you played the Toy Story playset? Because you just described. If they made Lone Ranger into a playset (bad movie choice) they'll make a GoTG playset.

Toy Story had almost 20 years of history backing it up. You could set it anywhere and it would bring sales. The Lone Ranger playset had a very unique feel along with elements like the train.

What can they really do with GotG that would make it worthwhile?

Pirates in the bottom 3 play sets for me. I've only got 5 ATM so can't comment on lone ranger but will soon. Toy story was my fave. Cars was OK better than incredibles and pirates

On topic I'd say theirs a good chance for January time

Guardians of the Galaxy play set chances?

Two words: Star ships!

Each character has their own star ship. Think pirates playset but in space. That's what I potentially see with GOTG.

And I agree that Lone Ranger was a cool playset but the movie was new and kids aren't familiar with the cast compared to every other playset in DI. GOTG is kinda in the same boat this time around.

I think if they wanted to work in more flying elements, they would do a Planes play set. The sequel comes out in theaters in July.

I think that we will get a GOTG playset. Think about it... if DI 2.0 comes out in August (like the first one), it's also the release month of GOTG worldwide. About gameplay though, I think it'll be either like the Incredibles playset but set in space or something entirely new. It could be like you have to keep all the prisoners inside the prision seen in the trailer or something.

I say that It's likely gonna happen. Plus come on, Rocket Raccoon, Drax, Groot and Star-Lord in Infinity. Who doesn't want that? ;)

An Oz set would be nice. I think a GOTG set may be on the cards as much as an Avengers one. I still don't understand Toy Story in Space I would have much preferred it on earth lol

@shiftyraccoon, from what I understand the reason the play set was Toy Story in Space was because the game that inspired Disney Infinity (Toy Story 3 the game & it's Toybox mode) was set on Earth in a western style setting. That along with The Lone Ranger play set, it made more sense to focus on Buzz's setting. Also Oz was hinted at in promotional material but never made it in.

I definitely think the chances of GotG getting a play set are high, the movie comes out this August, which makes GotG essentially the Monster's University of DI2.0, the movie that releases right around the time of the game. Plus Disney was taking a risk by even making a GotG movie in the first place since no one really knows who the GotG are, so why not get kids into it through Disney Infinity, plus a Rocket Raccoon figure is a no brainer (along with Starlord, Groot, Gamora & Drax, maybe Nebula too for the villain). Also love the idea for it being like a PotC play set but in space, creating your own spaceship, etc...

My sneaking suspicion is we are going to get 50-50 marvel/disney (I think they save Star Wars for next version). Which means: Avengers play set/Guardians of the Galaxy play set and maybe a Spider-man play set just to remind everyone who owns Marvel.
