Great tutorial. I couldn't find anyone's spark generators doing a search of the community uploads in 3.0, so I made my own (which I'm sure is not as good as the ones referenced in this thread).

Is there a particular enemy type that drops more blue sparks?

I can't remember the enemies name, Martus?, but he is the shark dude from Pirates of the Caribbean set. He drops the most sparks.
Have you used any round discs under your figures? The Aladdin costume disc work under all figures and you get a chance at 25 extra blue sparks.
Scrooge McDuck's Lucky Dime let's you gains sparks 20% faster.
Mr. Incredible costume disc works for all figures and give extra sparks for defeating enemies.

It still takes me like an hour to level my characters up.

@Spider-Man - same here. I don't have the Pirates playset, which I think is why I can't find the shark enemy that's supposed to drop a bunch of sparks. I also need to experiment with my design to see if I can get the sparks to funnel toward the character. Right now, I just have the spark generator out in the open. However, I set it up next to my garden, so I'm able to harvest food while sparks are generating and vice versa.

I have all the 1.0 and 2.0 characters and play sets. I have all of the 1.0 Power Discs (minus a few TRU Exclusives). I don't have any 3.0 play sets yet (that changes tomorrow) but it still takes well over an hour. Maybe I set up my spark chamber with the wrong bad guys.

I noticed that the power discs don't register a percentage unless you have more that 1 registered. Any disc I have 1 of registers as 0%, if I have 2 of it registers as.5% and if I have 3 or more registers as 1%. I have a total 272.5% increase in sparks as of yesterday when I broke down and bought Yoda and leveled him up in 5 minutes.

Update.

2 to 4 of the same disc will get you .5%, 5 to 9 discs will get you 1.0% and 10 discs will get you 1.5% increase.
Correctly at 302% and still missing 8 figures, not counting TFA figures
