Where does DI go from here?

Postby Tilarta » Thu Jul 09, 2015 3:03 am

Now that we know for certain that the next iteration of DI is Star Wars, I am wondering if there is anything left to do in terms of themes.

Does Disney own any other franchises that may be used as a thematic basis for a hypothetical 4.0 version?

My personal theory/preference is that they should just expand on what they have now instead of adding more separate modules.
More Disney, more Marvel, more Star Wars in the form of expansion packs/figures/playsets/toybox unlocks.

I think that is the general consensus here. Personally I think they'll still have some unifying theme to give direction, like "Disney Legacy", or "Animal Kingdom", or something not tied to any specific collection of IPs.

I think we will be pleasantly surprised with where they take this next. I doubt they will just go into "maintenance mode" from here. Feels like all the key pieces are in place now for a next level play. I'm thinking VR as a possibility.

Did they not state in an interview that all the major releases are done in terms of themes, and not they'll be focusing more on making it a platform?

3.0 doesn't have a theme.. I think it's the best way

From here I'm pretty sure each iteration of Infinity will be a mix of: Whatever films Disney/Pixar/Marvel/Lucasfilm have coming out during it's lifecycle. Whatever legacy IP's have re-release's on home media to tie into, and whichever characters topped the informal fan polls.

I'm hoping that the VR Microsoft showed at E3 works with DI in the future. I still think they need to release limited edition figure designs or 'chase' figures
