To unlock the first Sidekicks, you have to do the Sidekick Tutorial (also known as Sidekicks Square One) on the Toy Box Hub. Afterwards, you can unlock them by opening presents in the Hub, or by rescuing them in Takeover.

Are they seriously not going to have any new townspeople? Having all the new characters is one of my favorite parts about getting a new Disney Infinity but now they're just recycling all the old ones for this "sidekick" thing, which isn't even that cool. What are you even supposed to do with a sidekick that you can't do yourself?!

Where did it say they are not doing new townspeople? For one there will be a ton of Star Wars townspeople if nothing else.

@jose.abalos Do you know if the townspeople you unlock when you claim ownership of a figure can be used as sidekicks, or are they just regular townspeople? It'd be fun to play as Princess Leia with a Luke Skywalker sidekick!

Was wondering about that new townsperson based on mighty virus apologies if I got the name wrong but did anyone see it in a YouTube video or will that need to wait for release before someone points her out?

@InfinityApprentice ... They are regular townspeople. I don't remember the full list of sidekicks right now, but they're mostly Disney. And yes, there's plenty of new townspeople and Cast Members.
