Offline, one disc can drop two of the same toy but in online play with others, only one toy is dropped and you can fight for it.
Double the pickup area with 2 Alien Symboite discs

Merlin's Summon also gives you an increased pickup range, so I assume combining this with an Alien Symbiote gives a similar result as 2 Symbiote discs?

Looks great! The initial price of $2.50 was never an issue anyway outside of getting duplicates, which raised the average cost per disc, so this is a great advancement imo.

And I guess I'm the only one excited about the aspect of rare items/figures in this game. I honestly love the idea of playing with someone online, and when they plop down a super rare power disc it gets you excited, more so than if I have all the exact same figures/power discs as them; it's the one aspect of Skylanders I personally prefer. For instance, The D23 Mickey's would have been amazing to add to a collection if the in-game avatars had the shiny stars on the hat as well. Would have been worth the $500 to me from a collector's aspect if I could actually show it off in-game. The Black Spider-Man is a step closer, and I'll be buying one shortly although, I'm a little disappointed that since they went back and updated the 3d model a bit, as well as having to make new character packaging to fit the Vita box anyway, they didn't just go with a completely new pose for effect. Wouldn't have mattered in-game but would have looked much better on the shelf next to the original Spidey lol.

I am SO happy not to have blind bags or go eBay shopping anymore. And I really like how the packs are going to be themed. I think is a massive improvement, and the price point is excellent. I wonder if the packs will be released in waves so as not to overcrowd store shelves?

Loving the Star Wars discs! I'm kind of surprised about the Felucia skydome, since it's only briefly seen in Revenge of the Sith, but it's good too see some of the lesser known Star Wars stuff represented for us nerds!
