I think I've figured out the remaining characters for 3.0!

@Stitch, 23 characters have been officially announced so far with more to come!

@Stitch, JV said there will be over 100 playable characters by the time the 3.0 cycle is complete. Given 67 released so far including Crystals (hard to know whether JV was counting those or not), that leaves another 10 over and above what's already been announced. Plenty of scope there for an additional franchise.

Even just for the sake of avoiding disappointment I would assume that he was definitely counting the crystals. If he wasn't, it'll be a great surprise

So, at least 10 left to announce, but we can speculate that there will be 5 for the Force Awakens playset and 3 more for the Avengers one (going by the trend in 3.0 of 5 per Playtex). That leaves at least 2 completely unknowns; will they be Disney, Marvel or Star Wars?

Best case scenario it'll be:

- Force Unleashed character #1
- Force Unleashed character #2
- Force Unleashed character #3
- Force Unleashed character #4
- Force Unleashed character #5
- Scarlet Witch
- Quicksilver
- Vision
- Dipper
- Mabel
- Hercules (or Stan if Alex Hirsch got his wish)

Force Unleashed will probably get 5 characters, with Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie etc all being usable too (unless they get older figures too, which would probably best be done with costume discs tbh).
If they do Cad Bane and/or Boba Fett then that may mean no more Disney originals at all, preferably Cad Bane will be an NPC and Boba Fett saved for the next game. If Mace isn't even playable then Cad really shouldn't be.
Vision, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would bring the Avengers 2 set up to 5 characters and I'm sure most, if not all of the Avengers from 2.0 would be usable too.

It does all work out quite well that each set gets 5 characters (excluding cross overs) so we'll see.

They've already surprised us so much with 3.0 that I'm hesitant to think it'll only be around 10 more. They've teased the possibility of another playset so we may be looking at a 40 character roster this go around.

They have hinted at another playset but maybe that is still in relatively early development and thus susceptible to be canceled or postponed until 4.0. We never know.

Of course I would like to have a sixth playset and around 40 figures (I would bet on 35). I would maintain my rule of purchasing one figure per week and have characters to buy almost until the end of the life of the game.

I still wonder if the playset they keep saying they haven't announced is the marvel one. All we have been told is the Hulkbuster and Ultron figure shown on the gameinformer article are part of it. I really hope I am wrong
