I know what a 2D platformer is, but what's a 2.5D platformer? Is some of it a 2D and some a 3D platformer? But whatever it is I'm still excited for it!
2.5D usually means the characters and world around you are entirely 3D, but your characters can only move in a straight path back and forth like a normal 2D game. The New Super Mario Bros are an example of 2.5D, or even Street Fighter 4.
Ok, still sounds really fun! You can use them in the 3D toy box as well so I don't know why people are annoyed. There is probably another Disney play set too! I can't wait to play all the playsets personally, especially Inside Out!
Usually 2.5D games use 2D images and assets to create the illusion that you are playing a game with full 3D motion controls when that isn't the case. The most important part here is the "motion".
