Glitch causes character ownership restart

There have been a lot of cases recently, where people's characters or even data restarts with no apparent reason.
I'm considering not playing until The November Patch, I definitely don't want to restart my game.
Does anybody have any extra info on how to avoid this?

That happened to me when I got the ps4 version and I wanted to move the characters
