Figure storage/transport case needed

Postby Tilarta » Tue Jul 25, 2017 9:35 am

I am looking for a case that I can use to store/transport my figures, but one that will also allow me to get them out easily to play with.
Here is a rough concept of what the interior of the case should look like:

Each figure would have their own storage cell, one that would hold them in place and prevent them from shifting around while the case was being moved about.

Does anyone know of a case I could buy that can be used for this purpose?

There's such a variety of shapes and sizes in the figures like between Baymax and Phineas, you're probably going to need different size 'cells' if you want them to be snug. But they'll be fine to jiggle around because they won't hit each other. I'd look at a clear plastic box with a lid, so you can see what's inside, and make the custom inserts out of foam or card. They wont be damaged in their own little pocket. - If you need more buy the same box again so they'll be nicely stackable, and you can use your previous insert template. Obviously this solution is only as expensive as the box you choose, but it's a good solution if your'e on a budget.

Things like this hold very few figures and start at about fifteen pounds. 'Off the shelf' storage for a complete set of figures could be very expensive.Image

I'd prefer to use foam sheets to make the interior cells.
Does anyone know what kind of stores might stock that item?

I don't know where you are are, but THE RANGE here in the UK for the foam, or just searching online... I've spent a long time trying to create a display/storage solution, and there's not much thats cheaply affordable unless you're crafty.

I live in Australia.

Mostly I was just wanting to know the kind of store, like arts&crafts, modelling, whatever it may be.
Then when I have an idea of what category to search for, then I can do an online search with more precision.

I honestly doubt wood is a good idea, because it may be too heavy.
I want something I can pick up and carry, since if/when I move house, I'll need to pick up my case of DI figures and just go.

As an side topic, I'll probably need a transport solution for my PS4 as well, since that will have to travel with the DI collection too.

Something like this ( Made by KURTSY ) would be good if you're not going to try making something yourself. I found it straight away googling HOBBY STORAGE BOX. And this particular one allows you to keep adding extra layers to make it as tall/large as you need. Just persevere online though :)

Entering Hobby Storage Box as a search term produced an interesting result:

From the looks of it, I could just place the figure on top of the sheet and make a cell large enough by removing the precut cubes.

Can someone help me interpret the shipping info please?

It looks like to ship to Australia is 50 Euros because it's not in Europe.

I suppose anywhere to Oz is gonna be pricey. It has to involve a plane journey I suppose. Living in Europe it's all shipping containers...
