Amiibo Hints

A while ago there was a consumer survey on Disney Infinity's UK Facebook page that asked what characters you want to see in Disney Infinity. There were many Marvel, Disney and Star Wars characters. There was also Mario, Sonic and Rayman. This showed that they aren't ruling out non-Disney-owned characters!

Then, as many of you know, Reggie Fils-Aime from Nintendo mentioned Disney Infinity when he announced Amiibo figures during Nintendo's E3 2014 Digital Event. Later, people asked JV on twitter about it, and if Amiibos will do anything to the Wii U version of Disney Infinity (such as unlock exclusive items themed to that character, or even that character to play as!) and he said, "Not in 2.0..." This shows that there may be some kind of deal or negotiation in the works. This would make Disney and Nintendo a lot of money, as some Disney Infinity fans will want to buy some Amiibos (or even a Wii U, if they don't already have one), and some Nintendo fans would want to buy DI 2.0, because the fact that their Amiibos work with it pushed them over the top when they weren't so sure about it.

Finally, in this week's Toy Box TV, in Johnny V's trip to Studio Gobo for a super secret project, a Super Mario Chess Board was seen briefly (look at the right side of the picture).

You can clearly see a goomba, Birdo, and Kamek.

All of this might mean nothing, but there's been a lot of little evidence, which is adding up to make big evidence.
What do you guys think? Will Amiibo figures work with the Wii U version of Disney Infinity in the future?

I seriously have a feeling we will get Mario Amiibo Stuff for Disney Infinity in the future!

It will really stink is this is Wii-U exclusive though.
I am not going to buy the game again just get some exclusive figures.

Doubtful. I don't see enough benefit for Disney. For every bit of memory devoted to a Nintendo character, it could be yet another Disney character that they will make 100% of the profit from instead of sharing with Nintendo.

By the way, Did you see Elmo in the Studio Gobo segment?

because of the hints at Mario in Disney Infinity and a major Sesame Street buyout which involves Sesame Street alongside Muppets in Disney Infinity 3.0, I'm hopefully going to Tweet to Johnny V about this.

I really hope amiibos are not compatible personally, the Disney figures are enough to collect lol

But man! The hint though! To play as Mario and friends in the Toy box and in a potential Mario Playset would be really awesome! even alongside the likes of Anna and even Luke Skywalker!

I don't see it happening. Nintendo are very protective of their characters, and the money and resources it would take to get Mario and the gang in Infinity exclusive to the Wii U wouldn't be worth it. Especially since Disney and Avalanche wouldn't be making any money off of the amiibo sales.
