Understanding Toybox

I understand that toybox is this world of creation where you can do anything. Build race courses, set up games, etc. Is there any more to it than building? For some reason I thought I saw something about Missions in toybox? Is there things that you have to do with certain characters in toybox?

every character, even those not in play sets, have their own missions to complete in the Toy Box

I actually had a question about the Toy-Box. When you play in the toy box with all the editing tools, and creating things, is there a way to switch to a mode where it's just playing? I'm probably explaining this wrong but I mean a sort of functionality like the Little Big Planet level creating where once you're done placing everything and editing things you can switch to a play mode where you don't have the tools and it's as if you're playing it normally

^ Oh thanks! I had been wondering that for awhile and I haven't seen any videos or anything of switching between the 2 game modes.
