Now that Disney have acquired Marvel, I started to wonder if that acquistion included Transformers, since Marvel was the first publisher of the Transformers comic.
According to the info I accessed, Hasbro still holds the rights to Transformers and that it was not part of the Marvel acquisition deal.
Note that the following info comes from unconfirmed sources, it cannot be taken as official statements.
While I was doing the research, I came across a couple of references that suggest Disney are interested in adding Hasbro to their corporate umbrella, mostly to acquire the rights to Transformers and GI Joe.
But another one said that Hasbro have not entered corporate negiotiation on this issue yet.
It was also stated that the cost of acquiring Hasbro is far less then Disney spent on either Marvel or Star Wars.
Hypothetically, if Disney manage to acquire Hasbro, I wonder if they would considering integrating Transformers into a future version of Disney Infinity.
They'd have to come up with a whole new mechanic, as Transformers can become a vehicle of one kind or another, which doesn't exist in the current gameplay.
If the Transformer in question is a Triplechanger, then you'd need two different vehicle modes.
I don't expect to see Combiners, as that would be a gameplay change of a significant order.
I don't think you can even get 5-6 characters into one game anyway.
I wonder if they would add human sidekicks too, although only Sari Sumdac (Animated) and Miko Nakadai (Prime, using the Apex Armor) had any superpowers.
